Description

Participants will be placed in one of eight groups based on grade-band and core theme:

• Group 1: Grades K-2
• Group 2: Grades K-2
• Group 3: Grades 3-5
• Group 4: Grades 3-5
• Group 5: Grades 6-8
• Group 6: Grades 6-8
• Group 7: Grades 9-10
• Group 8: Grades 9-10

Each group will be responsible for developing a History Day project that aligns to their core theme.

Abiding by the National History Day rules, each group will be responsible for creating a project about a topic under their core theme that also aligns to the Ohio Social Studies Academic Content Standards. Project can either be an exhibit, a documentary, or a performance and must be primary source-based and make use of seminar content or resources (i.e. new content knowledge, books, CDs or other resources used over the course of the seminars). Groups are responsible for deciding what specific topic they address.

The National History Day in Ohio Coordinator will attend the 10 Feb 2007 seminar to provide an overview of History Day. Specific time will be allocated at the Summer Institute in order for groups to complete the activity. Groups will present their project on the final day of the Summer Institute.

An electronic copy of a corresponding lesson plan using the template will be due within one week of the Summer Institute.
